“Becoming ATHENA is masterful writing and an interesting journey of anecdotes and information that cause pause for thought. Mertz’s early challenges, both family and work, brought back vivid memories of my work in the mining business in the 1970’s; I was an anomaly to say the least! I found her leadership principles interesting and thought-provoking. The world appreciates Mertz’s leadership and foresight so many years ago!”

This book is a gift to leaders, established and emerging, to anyone eager to embark on a transformative leadership journey.

“An inspiring and powerful book that tells the compelling stories of women leaders, Living ATHENA: The 8 Principles for ATHENA Leadership demonstrates the ability of women to lead with wisdom, grace, and resilience.  Mertz and Prince should be applauded for the passion and care poured into this work.

As I was sitting in a prison cell I learned that there was a program that taught women how to live a better life, never to be imprisoned again. I was given this incredible book called “Becoming ATHENA”.  The author, Martha Mertz, was a huge part of the woman I have become today.  From her influence, a struggling drug addict and alcoholic from a disfunctional family, adopted a new mantra “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

“Live authentiacally – it sounds so easy, so basic. Since preshcool, my granddaughter Zayda has been identitying as a woman but marching to a different drummer preferring boys clothing sports, and personal appearances. She started playing baseball at a young age and took to it with vigor and love. As she grew she became a skilled catcher and pitcher. The coaches wanted her but the boys on the teams sometimes resented this girl taking thier prime spots on the field. She just wanted to play ball and help the team. With these women’s life stories of living authentically. I knew this book was for Zadya and all who have a dream and just need the encourgement of those before them to live their true story. I can’t wait to see her authentic self grow and mature and this book will surely be a movitation to keep up the true fight. I love Zayda and and loved this book.”
